Ways to Help

Dog Bank Collection Cans:   Simply drop a few coins in our dog banks located at many businesses throughout Addison County. Each year we raise approximately $10,000 from these cans.  It is true…every penny counts!

Bottle Redemption:  Take your returnable bottles to one of the 2 local redemption centers and ask them to apply your refund to Homeward Bound.  They will put it towards our account and send us a check each month/quarter.

  • Middlebury Discount Beverage:  Monday-Friday, 8:30am-6:00pm; Saturday, 8:30am-5:00pm; Sunday, 9:00am-2:00pm.
  • Bristol Discount Beverage:  Monday-Saturday, 9:00am-6:00pm; Sunday, 10:00am-3:00pm.

Round Up!  You can donate spare change from your everyday credit/debit purchases to help Homeward Bound? YOU CAN! Each time you swipe your card, you can help homeless animals here in Addison County by rounding up to the nearest dollar. Just pennies a day adds up...and don't worry, you can put a cap on your monthly contribution. Click here to learn more!

Neat Repeats:  Donate your unwanted items (clothing, trinkets, etc.) to Neat Repeats and tell them to apply the sale commission to Homeward Bound.  They will apply it to our account and send us a check!

Hobbes Goes Home: Purchase the 10th anniversary edition of "Hobbes Goes Home" using the code ACHS and $5 will be donated to Homeward Bound!  Click here to visit the website.

eBay: List an item on eBay and make Homeward Bound the beneficiary of your sale!  The income from the sale will be sent directly to us.  Click here for a link to our charity profile.

Purchase a quilt! Angelika Brumbaugh, friend of the shelter, has a few quilts left to benefit Homeward Bound and they are absolutely gorgeous! Each twin-size quilt took 6-7 months to make; they are 90% hand pieced and 100% hand quilted. Angelika used materials from all over the world - Australia, Germany, Japan, South Africa, France and the U.S. as well!  If you would be interested in specific measurements and seeing a photo gallery of the quilts still available, please contact Hannah Manley by email or at 802-388-1100 ext. 101.

Third Party Fundraisers: Whether it be a bake sale, home goods party, Dress Down Day, coin drop, penny war, etc., we welcome community members of all ages raising money on our behalf! We call this a "third party fundraiser" and ask that you do the following before launching your event:- Contact the shelter’s development director, Hannah Manley, and let her know what you have planned to ensure that it complements our fundraising program.
- Once we approve your fundraiser, you will have our blessing to use Homeward Bound’s name and logo in your promotions and marketing for this particular fundraiser.
- After the event, let Hannah know how you did, send along a photo for publicity on the shelter’s social media, and set up a time for a photo opportunity and check acceptance at the shelter if you wish. (If not, you may mail a check made payable to Homeward Bound to 236 Boardman Street, Middlebury, VT 05753. Please include a note indicating what fundraiser brought in the money).
