Murphy is a 2-year old neutered male Australian Shepherd.  He is current on vaccines, has no reported medical conditions, and weighs approximately 50 pounds.

Murphy’s current owner reports that he is a very active young dog who is friendly to family and visitors, playful, and affectionate.  He is housebroken, crate-trained, and knows basic commands.  He is loyal to his person, extremely smart, and an absolute love who wants to be a lap dog when he’s not learning new tricks and playing. 

His play style includes just about anything you want to do with him – chasing balls, Frisbees, stuffed toys, playing fetch, tug a war, and water play.  He loves to play with other dogs and tries to play with the house cat. 

Murphy is regularly around children up to 10 years of age.  He is gentle and calm with the 9-month old child he currently lives with, but will try to jump and engage in play with the older kids, even if they don’t want to.

The most ideal home for Murphy would include having ample opportunity for exercise in an enclosed area with daily walks in an area where he can be unleashed.  He needs to be engaged mentally and physically and, being a shepherd, he needs a ‘job’ such as a working dog (but would need training).
