George is a neutered 10-month old Rhodesian Ridgeback/Labrador mix who weighs 60 pounds as a pup, is up-to-date on vaccines, and has no known medical conditions.

George’s owner reports that he is very active with a lot of puppy energy, friendly to family and visitors, affectionate, and is an entertaining clown. He is housebroken and crate-trained, and knows quite a few basic commands. George is hilarious, loyal, very smart, and just wants to be with his people.

Play of choice is just about anything you want to do with him. He loves to play with and fetch anything that can be thrown (balls, Frisbees), and to play in water.

Children, he loves! Because of his size and puppy-energy that he hasn’t learned to control yet, he gets very excited to be with kids and wants to jump on them. Kids 10+ would have a better chance around his enthusiasm, and he would have to be supervised around younger children to keep him from getting too excited with them.

When he was in a foster situation at 6 months old, he was with other dogs and cats, but hasn’t been since then and his current owner did not see the interactions with the other animals prior to adopting him.

His owner reports that sadly their lifestyle is too busy and George needs much more physical and mental activity than they are able to provide for him. The best home situation for George to flourish and to be happy is with a very active family with someone being home most of the time. He needs to hike and run off energy, in addition to regular daily walks and fetch sessions. George needs mental stimulation as much as physical exertion – like tracking outside, hide/seek with treats, learning new tricks for treats. George’s new family would need to continue his training for him to become a balanced, manageable adult dog.

George needs people, and does not like to be left alone for long periods of time.
