Meet Rusty! This floofy pooch came to us because he is an escape artist and door dasher! He is so smart it blows our minds! He is such a love and has really calmed down a lot with the constant love and affection he receives here from staff. He is the fastest at figuring out food puzzles, cracking the code to brain-games we give him and coming up with creative solutions to all his problems. His previous owners were not prepared for that type of behavior and felt he needed owners that knew how to train him. When Rusty first arrived, he was depressed and struggled wanting to come into our building. He is used to being in a family home and really needs to be around people. He needs to work, to use his incredible mind because he is no ordinary dog. Highly intelligent and intuitive, he is also a social and active dude. Rusty loves to be outside and roam free, but he just can’t be trusted to stay put without a fence. He is a wiggly and friendly guy who has come out his shell since first arriving here. He is a husky mix (best we can tell) and could possibly do well with another dog – he clearly wants to make friends. He has demonstrated prey drive, so no cats or free-running small animals in the home. Due to his training needs we would also like to see him in a home with only older children, so that he can receive consistent reinforcement and proper attention.
