Kato is a 2-year old pit bull mix. He is an affectionate 62-pound fella who enjoys spending time with family and being a potato on the couch. Kato loves car rides and to stick his head out the window to feel the breeze. He knows some basic commands and walks well on a leash.

Kato seems to like the other dogs at the shelter, but we are unsure if he would enjoy the company of a canine friend in a home. Kato has really bad separation anxiety and will need a dedicated and motivated owner to work with this in a home setting. We will help the new owner with post adoption support and separation anxiety specific protocols.

Kato is an extremely loving dog and we are looking forward to see him grow in a new home. The best kind of household for him would be where he can be a part of some fun outdoor family activities. Kato cannot live with cats as he will chase them. He has lived with children before, but due to his high anxiety, we feel he would be better suited to a home with older children. If you can give Kato the support and love he deserves, please fill out an application.

Kato is our Diamond in the Ruff dog. These dogs are selected because of special ownership requirements. They have quirks, needs, dislikes, and/or habits that require up-front commitments and understanding from their new owner to give the dog the utmost care, patience and training to ensure that the new relationship has the best chance of working. To assist with the transition, Homeward Bound will provide consultation and in-depth individual sessions with the new owner and dog that will be conducted by our contracted dog trainer, Jill Halstead.
