Delilah (affectionately known as Lilah) is a 9 month old spayed female lab mix who had a rough start to her life. In her first home, she did not do well with kids – perhaps the household was too chaotic or the fit just wasn’t quite right. After being returned to the shelter, she was pretty shut down. Staff would sit with her day after day, showing her love and trying to help her through. A foster was found that had a lot of experience working with pups like Lilah, and with the foster Delilah began her new life.
At her current foster home, Delilah lives with 3 adults, a 9 year old boy, 3 small dogs and several cats. In the beginning, it took time for her to get used to all the new things, but over the months she has become such a happy pup! She still is nervous around new people, new places and new situations, but that isn’t stopping her from genuinely enjoying her days. She now plays with toys on her own, she tries to get the other animals to play with her and deeply enjoys the affection from all of the humans in her household. Delilah has been able to go off leash on her property and stays close by.

It will probably take several meetings for you to get to know her and get her feeling comfortable. Patience is all with Lilah. We are looking for a loving, full and compassionate home to keep her moving on her journey. She is all sweetness and requires that in return. This baby girl is near and dear to Homeward Bound staff, as we have watched her develop and grow in a way we weren’t sure she would. Seeing her come to life and find joy is truly what this work is about.
