Arwen showed up as a stray here at the shelter. She immediately settled in and has been lovely to every staff member she has met. She likes most dogs but can be picky about who she wants to spend time with. Arwen walks great on a leash, she is house broken, and knows a few basic commands. She loves affection and will lean into you until she gets all the belly rubs she wants. Arwen is estimated to be around 2 years old, and appears to be a Shepherd mix  but she displays behaviors and her appearance suggests that she is a wolf-hybrid.  We did a DNA test on her the the results revealed she is nearly 30% gray wolf.  Owning wolf-hybrids is legal in Vermont but it is a whole different relationship than owning a domesticated dog.  For more information, please check out this article  What to Consider When Considering a Wolfdog.  Arwen will only be adopted out to a person/family with demonstrated experience living with wolf-hybrids.
