Pets In Crisis Program

Homeward Bound has developed several partnership with Addison County social service agencies to provide short-term respite care for companion animals of people in crisis such as domestic violence or housing difficulties.  Through this program, Homeward Bound assists owners by placing their pets in temporary foster homes, free of charge, while they gain stability and assistance for their personal needs.  In most cases, when the time of crisis or emergency settles, the pets are reunited with their owners.  However, if the owner determines that they are unable to reclaim their pet, Homeward Bound will accept their pet into the shelter for re-homing and adoption.

To qualify for this program, pet owners must be working with a social service agency and their case manager must contact Homeward Bound to initiate enrollment in the program.  All services provided through this program are confidential.
