Current opening:  EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

An exciting opportunity to have great impact in the community exists at Homeward Bound, Addison County’s Humane Society. The organization is searching for its new Executive Director.

The mission of Homeward Bound is to be a community-centered shelter that supports the human-animal bond through compassionate care, adoption, education, and advocacy. The agency’s vision for the community is that it will be one:

  • That is nurturing and compassionate towards all animals
  • Where no animal suffers from abuse or neglect
  • Where companion animals are treated as lifelong, valued family members

Temporary respite through Pets in Crisis and the support of low-income families and their pets with food and veterinary care are just two examples of how Homeward Bound works on immediate and long-term goals. Dedicated and creative staff, supportive Board members, and a dynamic community of volunteers and donors stand behind the agency’s work.

The Executive Director will be part of this team and will be responsible for the lead or oversight of the general operations of the agency. This will include, but is not limited to, cost-effective and humane operation of the shelter, oversight of the medical/surgery suite, development of new programs, financial management, fundraising, and staff and volunteer recruitment and retention.

This position is designed for someone with three to five years of experience in a similar role. Executive Director full job description
